Crack climbing is not a intuitive form of climbing. It is a learned technique and an acquired taste. This clinic will cover the fundamentals of crack climbing while giving you plenty of time to practice the various techniques. In addition we will show improve your cragging techniques as we as introduce you to the elements of being a good partner to a leader in using traditional protection. This clinic is geared toward climbers starting their crack climbing journey and will focus on climbs in the 5.7 to 5.9 grade range.

Itinerary

This 7 hour clinic will begin at 9:00AM at the Index Town Walls Parking Area. After a full day of new skills, our day concludes with a traditional debrief to share our thoughts and progress for the day. Students should expect to depart at 4:00PM.

PREREQUISITE EXPERIENCE OR SKILLS

No previous outdoor climbing and belaying experience needed.

Minimum Age

Students 12-15 years old, accompanied by a parent or guardian

Students 16-17 years old, with consent from a parent or guardian and prior approval by The Mountain Bureau (please call or email prior to enrolling)
