Mt. Baker Backcountry Ski and Splitboard Programs- Washington

The Backcountry skiing and snowboarding terrain near Mount Baker Ski area is America’s icon for deep powder skiing. More importantly it is the birthplace of modern snowboarding in America. Many of our guides grew up skiing or riding as pass holders and were lured out into the easily accessible backcountry slopes for the sweet taste backcountry snow. A modest ski area above the Nooksack River valley supported by a funky the backwater snow-walled town of Glacier WA sets the backdrop and the culture of this area. These access points can offer enjoyable open slope ski touring when weather systems relent from pounding the venue with heavy snowfall. We think this venue is a great place to combine inbound and backcountry skiing an extended trips. Even if you only live a few hours away, we recommend sticking around and make the effort worth it. After touring in the Baker backcountry, it’s time to relax in Glacier with a Pizza and brew from Chair 9 and hit it again the next day. This is a perfect venue to mix things up with your ski crew, get a VRBO, and hire the Mountain Bureau LLC ski guides to show you why this special location is so special to our guides and the Pacific Northwest Ski culture.
